CUMBIA FEST represents Latin American sound culture in Berlin. Musical tradition meets the rhythms of city life. A colorful space under a grey sky where time stands still for one night.

 

At the moment there are two main editions of CUMBIA FEST every year, besides several other events spread over the months.

 

Cumbia Fest is celebrating the Day of the Dead ”El Día de los Muertos” at the beginning of November. This special day, celebrated especially in Mexico and other countries of Latin America, combines ancient indigenous traditions and modern spirit. An inspiring encounter between life and death, dancing alongside friends and family of present and past!

 

The other edition takes place in spring or summer season focusing on cumbia and other related rhythms with Latin American bands and DJs, aiming to create an open space for everybody who feels home everywhere and nowhere at the same time, a space and community that transcends all national boundaries and where music - like ourselves in a constant change – becomes a resting point and a journey at the same time.

 

The highlights of the last editions were the live acts of KUMBIA BORUKA, SONIDO GALLO NEGRO, SOTOMAYOR, LOS TRES SALTOS, EL FLECHA NEGRA, COMBO CHIMBITA and many DJs from different parts of Latin America.
